UBAGUZI WA RANGI TANZANIA (INASIKITISHA SANA)

Hapa sina la kusema lakini kama ulishawahi kwenda kwenye hizi hoteli zinazoitwa za kitalii na ngozi yako nyeusi basi bila shaka utakuwa umeshakumbana na haya mambo ya ubaguzi - kwa viwango tofauti tofauti. Nilikwenda pale Kempsink na nilichunguzwa kuanzia nilichovaa na jamaa waliudhika niliposema kwamba sifahamu Kiingereza. Walitulia tu kidogo pale nilipowaambia kwamba nilikuwa nalipa dola keshi. Kwa nini tubaguliwe katika nchi yetu wenyewe?

Racism within TZ as Arusha hotel denies access to Blacks

Manyara-born conservationist David Maige, plus members of his family, had a nasty experience recently, which will be etched on their memories for probably the rest of their lives.

The man, a Tanzanian national employed by Lake Manyara National Park, took his family to the legendary Lake Manyara Hotel for a leisurely outing that turned out to be an nightmarish anti-climax.

Upon approaching the main gate of the prestigious lodge, watchmen relayed a piece of information to him which didn`t register immediately as being factual - that the facility was a no-go zone for natives, but the preserve of foreigners and members of the power elite.

Lake Manyara Hotel is one of the formerly government-owned prestigious lodges in the northern tourist circuit, which was privatized a couple of years back and is now owned by Hotels & Lodges.

The hotel is located nearly 6 km west-south of Manyara National Park.


On Thursday this last week, the conservationist disclosed the experience to Natural Resources and Tourism Minister, Shamsa Mwangunga.

``Honourable Minister, as domestic tourists, Tanzanians are facing discrimination at the hotel.

We are not allowed to approach the facility, let alone getting in and being served,`` he lamented.

An irritated Minister Mwangunga paid a surprise visit to the hotel immediately, to establish the authenticity or otherwise, of the allegations.

Two of its senior officials -- Group Operations Manager Fred Tenga and General Manager Hamis Juma, put up spirited defence, saying that restrictions on access to the hotel were driven by security concerns, in the wake of terrorist attack threats.

``Our hotel is close to a residential area, and so we felt it necessary to control unnecessary influx, taking into account that we have suffered three robbery incidents, `` Tenga told the minister, stressing that security of their clients is one of the top in their agenda.

On his part, Juma told her that the restriction policy was imposed by the hotel management following attacks on some hotels in the East African region and elsewhere in the world.

``Since terrorists have no labels, the management decided to restrict an influx of local people into the lodge,`` the hotel boss noted.

Responding, the shocked minister said the move was not only frustrating her ministry`s efforts to promote domestic tourism, but also contravened the laws of the land.

``Your theory is baseless; after all, these are Tanzanian facilities. How dare you bar them from having a nice time in their own hotel?`` Mwangunga asked.

The minister then issued a one week ultimatum for the management to revoke the policy and to give her a feedback.

A panicky Tenga apologized and said the policy was being withdrawn with immediate effect.

Constructed about 38 years ago, Lake Manyara Hotel, Seronera, Ngorongoro and Lobo lodges formerly belonged to the Tanzania Tourist Corporation (TTC) and were later handed over to Tanzania Hotels Investment when TTC was disbanded in 1992.

Some years back hotel and lodges were acquired by a local private firm, Hotels and Lodges Limited.

The firm spent between $14 million and $20 million to rehabilitate Lake Manyara hotel and Seronera, Ngorongoro and Lobo lodges.

  1. Nilifikiri nipo pekee, Yaani kubaguliwa hivyo Ni juzi tu nilipokuwa nyumbani tulikwenda hotel moja wao wakaniangalia na kusema mama ya watoto yuko wapi. walizdhanimie ni mfanyakazi. Ni kweli inasikitisha Tanzania kuwa na ubaguzi Ni nchi ya amani lakini, Sasa hii inakuja ile ya kuiga kila kitu. Jamani kwa nini?

  2. Mume wangu ni mzungu nami ni mbongo,wakati tuko tanzania hotel yoyote tutakenda au mahali pa kuipatia vinywaji wahudumu hawakunifuata mimi na kuniuliza kuhusu huduma,walimfuata mume wangu,mambo yakiwa magumu kuhusu lugha ndio wananigeukia,yaani watu tunadharauliana sana.

  3. waache wanaodhani ni wazuri kuliko wengine wabaguane tu. yaani binadamu wa leo? mtu anashinda kuona kuwa sote tu wamoja? tunapumua hewa moja, ukitoa, mi naingiza. tunakkunywa maji yale yala na kula vyakula vilevile. sote tulikuja duniani kupitia njia moja.

    sasa kuna wanaojiona bora kuliko wengine!!! interesting. kisa? rangi ya ngozi kuwa tofauti? lugha? au elimu!!! wanahitaji soma hata kama ni wazungu. si mnajua ukristo umetulaani watoto wakaanani eti tulimchungulia Nuhu akiwa amebwia unga na kulewa chakali? sasa mnabaguliwa au mnajibagua kwa kukubali na kuamini vitabu vinavyowabagua!

  5. MAUAJI YA ZERUZERU (ALBINO) TANZANIA NAYO NI UBAGUZI WA RANGI

    Nimekaa na kufanya tafakari ya kina kuhusiana na mauaji ya ndugu zetu Albino yanayoendelea kuisakama Tanzania. Dhana mbili zinajitokeza katika tafakari hiyo. Moja ni dhana nzima ya ubaguzi wa rangi na pili ni tathimini yangu kuhusu mikakati ya serikali ya Tanzania kuwahakikishia usalama ndugu zetu Albino.

    Ukiangalia ubaguzi wa rangi uliokuwepo Afrika Kusini enzi za Makaburu, watu walipangwa katika makundi kutokana na rangi zao; weupe ( Wazungu ), watu wa rangirangi (coloured ) na weusi ( Waafrika ). Huduma zote, ikiwa ni pamoja na elimu, zilitolewa kwa kuzingatia rangi ya mtu.

    Kulikuwa na kumbi za starehe kwa ajili ya watu weupe, ambapo mtu mweusi hakuruhusiwa kuingia. Kuna sehemu zingine ambazo mwafrika hakuruhusiwa hata kukanyaga kabisa. Akikamatwa, alipewa kipigo kikali na hata kutupwa lupango ( jela).

    Ubaguzi wa rangi, hususani dhidi ya Mwafrika, ulikuwepo hata katika nchi za Magharibi. Nakumbuka nimeona picha zilizoandika “only for blacks and dogs here.” Hii ilikuwa hatari sana, kwani mtu mweusi alinyimwa haki zake kutokana na rangi ya ngozi yake .

    Sasa tujiulize.Hivi Albinno ni mtu wa namna gani? Anaweza tambuliwaje kwa muonekano wake? Sintopenda kuingia ndani zaidi kuchimba sababu za kibaiolojia zinazo mfanya mtu azaliwe Albino. Hata hivyo mtu haitaji microscope ( darubini) wala elimu ya Chuo kikuu kumtambua Albino.

    Nionavyo mimi, naamini bila pingamizi lolote kuwa mauaji ya Albino yanayoendelea kuitikisa Tanzania “Kisiwa cha Amani” ni mwendelezo wa dhambi ya ubaguzi wa rangi, lakini huu ni ubaguzi mkali zaidi katika historia ya mwanadamu kushinda hata dhambi ya biashara ya utumwa.

    Nasema nimkali zaidi kwani unalenga kuondoa maisha ya mwanadamu kwa ukatili wa kunyofoa viungo, tofauti na ule wa kumzuia mweusi kutembelea mitaa fulani au katika upandaji wa mabasi n.k !

    Ni kwa kuangalia rangi ya ngozi yake, unaweza kumtambua Albino. Kwa bahati mbaya, Albino anayezaliwa Afrika, ni tofauti na yule wa nchi za Ulaya na Marekani, kwani Albino wa nchi hizo, hatofautiani sana na mtu wa kawaida. Rangi yake inarandana na ya mzungu . Si ajabu kama naye angefanana na mwafrika, angebaguliwa na kuuawa.

    Kinachonishangaza mimi, ni kwanini Tanzania au Watanzania kwa ujumla hatusemi ukweli kuwa mauaji ya Albino yanayoendelea, ni ubaguzi wa rangi ili tuweze kupambana nao ipasavyo na Jumuiya ya Kimataifa iweze kutoa msaada sawawa na ambavyo jumuiya ya Kimataifa, hususani Tanzania, ilivyojitoa muhanga kung’oa mzizi wa ubaguzi wa rangi Afrika Kusini?

    Kwa mtazamo wangu, Watanzania tumeaminishwa kuwa Tanzania ni kisiwa cha Amani na hivyo sisi ni bora zaidi kuliko Taifa lolote kiutamaduni na kimaadili. Hii si kweli na huu ni mtazamo potofu ambao tusipokuwa makini, utatufikisha pabaya.

    Kwa uzoefu wangu, kitendo cha ubaguzi kikifanywa na Taifa jingine mfano Burundi, Kongo, Afrika Kusini, Ujerumani, M arekani ama Israeli, tunawanyooshea kidole kuwa wamepotoka huku tukitamka wazi kuwa nchi hizo zinafanya ubagauzi wa rangi. Je, kwa nini kitendo hicho kikitendeka Tanzania kama cha mauaji ya Albino, tunapata kigugumizi kutamka wazi kwamba ni kitendo cha ubaguzi wa rangi na tunaanza kutafuta majina mengine kama vile “unyanyasaji wa Albino” na k.n yasiyotoa picha halisi ya mambo yanayoendelea?

    Kwani ubaguzi wa rangi lazima kitendo kifanywe na mtu mweupe ( mzungu ) dhidi ya mweusi ( mwafrika ) ili kistahili kuitwa ubaguzi wa rangi? Vipi kama kitendo hichohicho kitafanywa na mtu mweusi dhidi ya mtu mweupe ( mzungu / albino ), hakiwezi kuitwa kitendo cha ubaguzi wa rangi?

    Au kama mtu mweusi atafanya kitendo cha kumbagua mweusi mwenzake kutokana na rangi yake kama vile mweusi sana , mweusi tiii! mweusi wa kati, nacho hakiwezi kuitwa ubaguzi wa rangi? Na vipi kama mtu mweupe ( mzungu ) akimbagua na kumnyanyasa mweupe mwingine kama vile Mchina , Mwarabu n.k, kitendo hicho kitaitwaje?

    Kwa uzoefu wangu, hasa baada ya kuangalia matukio ya hivi karibuni ambapo Waafrika Kusini waliamua kuwavamia na kuwaua wahamiaji kutoka nchi nyingine za Afrika, Tanzania ilikuwa mstasri wa mbele kukemea vitendo hivyo. Tanzania ilitoa tamko kali na kwa uwazi kabisa ikisema, “ Dhambi ya ubaguzi bado inaitafuna Afrika kusini.”

    Nikaanza kuangalia mambo mengine ninayoyashuhudia kila kukicha huku Marekani. Mtu akifanyiwa kitendo fulani, kwa mfano, ikiwa ni mweupe kakifanya, hukimbilia kusema ni ubaguzi wa rangi.

    Sasa mimi najiuliza. Je endapo Mtanzania mweusi mmoja ataenda nchi yoyote ya Magharibi kama vile kusoma au kufanya kazi halafu akauliwa na kunyofolewa viungo kama wanavyofanyiwa Albino, Tanzania itasemaje? Haina ubishi , kila mtu atasema “amebaguliwa na kuuwawa kutokana na rangi yake.”

    Swali langu la msingi ni hili: Kitendo cha Albino kunyofolewa viungo vyake kinyama na hatimaye kuuawa na mtu mwenye rangi nyeusi kisa rangi yake ni tofauti na cha mtanzania mweusi aliyebaguliwa na kuuawa ugenini hususani katika nchi za magharibi? Kwa nini mauwaji ya Albino yasitajwe kama ubaguzi wa rangi? Maana Albino naye hutambuliwa kwa rangi yake!

    Kama tumefikia hatua ya kuuana kutokana na rangi zetu; moja nyeusi, nyingine ya rangirangi ( coloured ) na wote ni binadamu tena watanzania, tuanaelekea wapi ndungu zangu?

    Serikali ya Tanzaia inaendelea kuchukua hatua mbalimbali kupambana na janga hili la mauaji ya albino. Uamuzi wa kugawa simu kwa albino wote, pengine waweza kusaidia kwa kuwawezesha kupiga simu polisi wanapovamiwa.

    Lakini Serikali inawasaidiaje albino waishio kijijini ambako hakuna umeme? Simu hiyo inachajiwa kwa teknolojia gani? Je simu hizo hizitakuwa kivutio kingine na hivyo kuwafanya wavamiwe zaidi?


    Kama imefikia hatua albino hawezi kutembea peke yake au kutembea baadhi ya masaa hususani jioni, kama imefikia hatua Mbunge maalum ambaye ni albino lazima apewe ulinzi maalum ili asinyofolewe viungo vyake, falsafa ya Tanzania kama kisiwa cha amani iko wapi?

    Ndugu zetu wa Marekani wanaelekea kuishinda dhambi ya ubaguzi wa rangi, kwani hatimaye wamefikia hatua ya kumchagua mtu mweusi kuwa Rais wao kwa kuangalia uwezo wake, hoja zake na si tena kigezo cha rangi kama Dr. Martin Luther King Jr aliposisitiza katika ndoto yake ( I HAVE A DREAM). Mwaka 2010 kama mgombea Urais wa Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania atakuwa albino, tutakuwa tayari kumpigia kura endapo atakuwa na sifa za kutuongoza? Tafakari, Chukua hatua.

  6. Inasikitisha sana kuona kwamba ngozi tu ya mtu inampa hadhi - hata katika nchi yetu wenyewe. Yasinta na Anony. wa kwanza, visa hivyo ni vya kawaida. Sasa sijui tukimbilie wapi. Kamala - misingi ya ubaguzi wa rangi mara nyingi ni utoto wa fikra, kujidharau, kutojiamini n.k. ambako mara nyingi kuna misingi ya kihistoria, kielimu, kidini, kijamii n.k.. Swali ni kwamba tutajidharau mpaka lini lakini?

    Makulilo, umegonga pointi. Mbali na sababu zinginezo - kama ushirikina n.k., mauaji ya albino bila shaka ni ubaguzi wa rangi - ambao mara nyingi unahalalishwa na sababu mbalimbali za kihistoria, kijamii na kisiasa. Itapendeza kama nini kama mwaka kesho kutakuwa na mgombea mwenye sifa ambaye ni albino. Nitapenda kuona maoni ya Watanzania kuhusu jambo hili. Tunawabagua albino kwa vile tunayo ngozi nyeusi, nasi tunabaguliwa na wenye ngozi nyeupe...

  7. Wananchi, suala hili linanifanya nikune kichwa mara nyingi. Tufanye nini? Niliwapeleka wanafunzi wangu wa Kimarekani kule Ngorongoro. Asubuhi wakati wa kujipatia lunch box, mhudumu akaniambia sitakiwi kupata chakula pale. Nilichanganyikiwa, nikahoji si pale ndipo watu wanachukua lunch box. Akasema ndiyo lakini wageni tu, madereva hawapatii pale. Nikaelewa kwamba mimi mweusi sina lolote jingine ila udereva tu, na kwamba udereva hauna hadhi. Kumbe ndiyo maana usiku uliotangulia sikupata majibu mazuri kuhusu chakula cha jioni, mpaka walipoona nimekaa na vijana wangu sehemu ya kusubiri tunapiga stori na wananiita mwalimu. Kwenye haya mahoteli tunakumbana na haya kila mara na hasa kama mtu unakimbia pamba katika joto la Dar.

  8. Yaani mweusi ukionekana katika mahoteli haya moja kwa moja jamaa wana-assume kwamba wewe ni dereva au mpagazi. Kwa nini lakini? Kwenye nchi zao hawa weupe tunabaguliwa, kwetu nako tunabaguliwa/tunabaguana. Twende wapi sasa???
